Size J/10 (6mm) crochet hook, or size needed for gauge (for the crown) (14 dc = 4 in.)
Size G/6 (4.25mm) crochet hook, or size needed for gauge (for the bib)
Tapestry needle, scissors
Instructions
Ch 4, join with sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 2, 10 dc into ring, join with sl st.
Rnd 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in each st around, join with sl st. (20 sts)
Rnd 3: Ch 2, *(1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st), repeat from * around, join with sl st. (30 sts)
Rnd 4: Ch 2, *(1 dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st), repeat from * around, join with sl st. (40 sts)
Rnd 5: Ch 2, *(1 dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st), repeat from * around, join with sl st. (50 sts)
Rnd 6: Ch 2, *(1 dc in next 9 sts, 2 dc in next st), repeat from * around, join with sl st. (55 sts)
Rnds 7-15: Ch 2, *(1 FPdc in next st, 1 BPdc in next st), repeat from * until last st, FPdc in last st, join with sl st.
Rnd 16: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st. Fasten off, weave in ends.
Now for the bib
Take two strands of yarn to make the bib, with the right side facing you.
Row 1: Ch 1 (counts as 1st st only in this row), sc in next st, *(2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next 2 sts), repeat from 3rd to last st, 2 sc in next st, sc in next st, sl st in next st. (22 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn (back loops only for this row), sc in 2nd st from hook, sc in each st until last st, sl st in next 2 sts. (23 sts)
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, begin row in 2nd st from hook, *(sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st), repeat from * until 2nd to last st, sc in next st, sl st in next 2 sts. (28 sts)
Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sc in 2nd st from hook, sc in each st until last st, sl st in next 2 sts. (29 sts)
Row 5: Ch 1, turn, begin row in 2nd st from hook, *(sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st), repeat from * until last st, sl st in next 2 sts. (35 sts)
Row 6: Repeat row 4. (36 sts) Fasten off, weave in ends.
